There is always a reflective purpose of social or political order in my work. The same use of elements of popular culture of the masses and the confrontation often with high culture and other cultural classes, referred to (in my work) at a certain relation between (visual) culture and social order. In this particular work, although it remains ambiguous, it endows the solemn Coat of arms of a certain childish value; and with it the basics of Spanish national identity in the history of conquest and religion. The conceptual similarities between the fantasy world of Super Mario and heraldry are almost as many as the similarities between the two iconic languages: heroism, strength, courage verse brutality, good and bad des characterize, fight for the land, valuable objects and prizes to the effort, etc. There is therefore a diffuse willingness to show the most absurd of all this heritage identity.
But above all, makes reference to the presence of the state in our lives. It could be another symbolism that appeared covered with absurdity, and another national identity. But the most important thing was to exemplify the absurdity of an order of things in which the state wants to administer or administer the sense in some aspects of our lives. Obviously, it is not an explicit text which says "this and that is absurd." But there is a manifestation of what is absurd. This work at the end is open; an unprejudiced gaze might not see the denigration in this absurdity, but as an honest update of institutional symbolism.”
