Until the Third and the Fourth Generation

Heli Kurunsaari

65 x 98 cm

“In the image there’s a traditional farmhouse built in Finnish South Ostrobothnia. There were living two families in the house, both in their own sides. My grandmother is from the left side of the house. And my mother has born behind the middle chamber window. There’s still someone living in the other side, even though the building has deteriorated. The markings on the bottom of the image are a simple family tree of that crowd which inherits from my great grandparents. There’s also me with my own family. The title of the work refers to an aphorism which tell about how everything what we do and leave undone affect on the future, both good and bad, many generation forwards. Everyone of us is a part of sine chain and story.”
