This work starts with a very direct proposal addressed to a young man with 90% of his body burnt. The youth agrees to stand in front of the camera and repeat the action that he performs daily before going onto the street: making up his face. The piece, of an extremely simple nature, challenges without concessions the idea that we all have of how we see ourselves and how we are seen by others. A steady camera records the action reflected in a mirror. “Pintura sobre pell cremada” works as a contemporary vanitas, at a moment when the image that we project seems to have a disproportionate importance.
